4 ways you can freshen up your kitchen

If your kitchen is feeling a little worn and dated, it might be time to invest in a few small changes that make a big difference. In this blog, we discuss some of our top tips and tricks to help you elevate your kitchen to the next level.

1. Use different textures to create interest

Whether it’s through your furnishings, accessories or other interior design choices, adding different textures to your kitchen is a fantastic way to add excitement and interest. Playing with different textures will also give your kitchen a more sophisticated and expensive final look.

Another way that you may choose to add texture is through your flooring. Our flagstones come with a number of different finishes, such as our Old Farmhouse Green flagstone which has tumbled edges and a brushed surface.

2. Update your colour scheme

Another way that you can spruce up your kitchen is by updating your colour scheme. Whether you choose to add a lighter shade to brighten up your space, or add a darker colour to make it feel more cosy and inviting, adding colour can really transform an area.

With an array of different colours to choose from you can really have fun when choosing your perfect new shade. This customer has used our Old Grey flagstone flooring to create a beautiful, welcoming space. The Old Grey pairs seamlessly with the other darker accents in this room, such as the green cupboards and brick feature wall.

3. It's the little things!

Giving your kitchen a freshen-up doesn’t always have to be something big, it may be as little as swapping out your chairs for something a little more modern, or switching out the photos in your picture frames to more recent images. We love how this customer has put in some fresh and modern accents to give this kitchen a little added character, such as the beautiful cushion seats and the use of photographs on the walls.

4. Change the lighting

Lighting is not often the first thing that comes to mind when giving your space a freshen-up, but it is a really important factor. From a practical point of view, having bright lighting in certain areas is key for you to see things better. We love how this customer has used spotlights above the kitchen surfaces, and a skylight above the seating areas, where the most lighting is needed.

Having more lighting in an area also makes the space feel more large and open. This customer has used large rectangular windows near the seating area to give a wonderful outdoor-indoor feel.
